Who needs dancing with the stars?

We busted out DDR last weekend, and Liz and Roz found they did better if it was a joint effort ;)

Edited: If you can’t get the you tube file to play, try this.

If you can’t see that, here’s the link on YouTube (it’s private, girls, don’t worry. You have to have the link to see it, I think :) )

Video

These took me much longer than I thought. Professional seamstress, I am not. Hopefully a baby won’t notice.

Our little thinker…

And the rest of the pics…

And finally…

Definintely a boy… :)

And here’s a link to the video… it’s about 9 minutes long, the whole thing’s 27 minutes, but the software I have chops it off after a third unless you buy it :)

First off, Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you all are indulging in some much needed chocolate. :) We had a mini-party here at work, so I’ve been borderline stuffing my mouth all day with cookies and cupcakes; diet be damned.

So I think most people know my husband is a die-hard Red Sox fan. As much as I’m a die-hard Auburn fan and Cardinals fan.

My wonderful Aunt the (future) Great Aunt Treena, lives in Fort Myers, Florida, which happens to be where the Red Sox have their spring training. She also happens to be uber-generous in having us come stay with her. I mentioned to John a few weeks ago that I thought I would feel fine enough to go to the spring training games, as long as we went in the early part of March and not the late part. He got to thinking about it and decided that he would definately want to go, so that’s what we’re doing! I’m really excited about seeing my Dad’s family again since I haven’t seen them since July and probably won’t see them for a while with the baby, and of course John’s ecstatic about going to see the Red Sox. The games are March 3rd and March 5th, so I’ll get a little break from work, too. And that will make week 28 go by quickly, too. :)

He’s been wanting this Red Sox training jacket for a while now, so that’s what I got him for Valentine’s Day, and he loved it.

A lot of you know I’m going to try Hypnobabies when I go into labor. Our first class is actually March 7th, and we’re excited and horribly skeptical. I was looking at the Hypnobabies thread on BabyCenter and came across this link…

(Roz, if you want to watch it, try this link, I know you usually have trouble with the embedded video stuff…)

If anyone’s interested, this was just amazing to me. It’s the Dateline NBC special on the technique, and while it’s long (about 20 minutes) it buffers quickly. Just if anyone’s interested in seeing that maybe I’m not just completely crazy… :)

Aw.

Now I just need a Cardinals one… :)

I’m pretty sure everyone knows this by now but just in case someone comes along who doesn’t; last September a burglar broke into our house while John and I were sleeping and to this day it freaks me out. I haven’t been able to sleep in the house by myself since, and with John working 3 nights a week, that puts me sleeping at my parents house often. John picks me up on the way home from work, which is fine except it wakes me up around 2 in the morning and I usually have a hard time going back to sleep (like last night, I was up until 4). The sleepless nights are plentiful enough these days without adding more to them, and I imagine as I near the third trimester, they’re going to get worse and worse.

So yesterday I called about glass break detectors. We have door alarms and a motion detector in the living room, but a burglar could break into either of the bedrooms and not be detected until they crossed the living room, and I’m just not comfortable with that, especially when in 3 short months one of those rooms is going to have a baby in it. So now, if we install a glass break detector in the three bedrooms and one in the kitchen, there’s no possible way a burglar could get into the house without the alarm going off immediately. They’re coming on Monday, and I’m so excited that I might be able to sleep in my house again! :)

John, through some very lucky betting, came into a few extra bucks here lately and found something to keep him quite entertained…

Can you guess what it is? :) A BIG FAT Electric Guitar!

Now, I’m not a giant guitar fan. But THIS, is cool. It sounds really neat; it’s a really nice guitar so the sound quality is great, and John looks really cool playing it with his amp off in the distance. John’s really excited about it, too, and I like when he’s really excited about something. If we teach Dash to play the drums, I can play the piano and we can have our own little band… :)

In other ongoings, we’ve made some more progress on the nursery. John installed the curtain rods, they’re the double rods so we can have some room-darkening curtains and then a valance on the front rod… (now I just need the curtains…)

And I remembered this great mirror that a great friend gave me when I graduated college, I always loved this mirror but I never quite had a place for it until now…

I thought Dash might be entertained if John changed his diaper and then held him up to see himself in the mirror afterwards… :)

And finally, the crib bedding came in! It’s really cute. There’s some other ones I’ve found that I like more than this one, but just barely and you can’t beat the price. 50 bucks compared to 180? This one will be fine.

And the biggest bonus is it matches THIS.

Which I’m completely in love with. Everything’s finally coming together, just 11 more days until I’m 6 months pregnant, and 20 more days til the third trimester! Yay!

Thanks for all the support on the natural childbirth and the cloth diapers, you all have been TONS more supportive than most of the people I’ve talked to. Erin asked me which diapers I ended up going with and I took her recommendation and got these from Diaperaps. I’ve already washed them and everything and after having to dry them 3 times (shouldn’t have tried to dry all of them at once, but at least I know now they’re absorbant!) they’re all folded and ready to go in the changing table.

Also, I took Monica’s advice and checked out Burlington Coat Factory’s baby depot, if you have one of these near you and want something that you may not be able to find anywhere else, their department rocks. They have the rainforest collection portable playpen which I haven’t seen anywhere else and a tons of Kidsline bedding that Babies R Us doesn’t carry. If the circus theme doesn’t work out, I’m going here next. Thanks everyone for all of your tips and support, you know I’m new at this!

I had my 24 week doctor’s appointment today, everything went fine. He scheduled the glucose test for my next appointment, March 1st (at 28 weeks! Ah!) and then we scheduled the 4D ultrasound for February 21st. Here’s the best part though. While I’m dreading the glucose test (don’t eat any breakfast, drink a god-awful sugary drink, wait an hour and have your blood sugar checked via blood test), he said they’ll do a bunch of paperwork for the HOSPITAL, and then we’ll go to an appointment every 2 weeks! Makes it seem really close. So I’m excited about that.

The 4D ultrasound will hopefully come out ok, it says on the paperwork in the office that patient’s over 225 pounds may not be able to see as clearly (sadly over that… another story in itself) but I’m not much over that so I thought we’d take our chances. Plus, I carry most of my weight in my thighs and butt, my stomach is still relatively flab free. Or free-er. So maybe we can see ok. But now on the paperwork I got today (they got a new machine, so I hope I’m reading this wrong) they said patients over 175 may not be able to see as clearly. I was 175 when I got pregnant. I’m hoping that’s what they mean. So we might get a good 4D picture or we might get a brown blob.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, this has been a wretched week for me and I’m just glad its over. The only good thing is the snow, which I love (since I never see it) but other than that, it’s been lousy. So bring on the weekend!

Update: Our cloth diapers came in the mail yesterday! So now I have little diapers for a little baby. :) Don’t judge either, we’re giving it a try. Several people have literally laughed out loud when I tell them that. Kind of like when I tell them I’m going to try natural childbirth. Just let me try, let me try… :)
