My other blog for a curves update and some new blog cuteness. The girl who designed it has 4 free ones and this was one of them, I just changed the header graphic to go with the blog. She rocks though, if you’re interested in her other themes just click on the link at the bottom of the page on that blog…
Maybe I’ll update that one more now that it’s cute

OK, I’m actually leaving in a durango, but still. I’m off this evening to catch up with my dear friend Roz, and to reunite Dashy with one of his favorite Aunts. I’m sure he’s in for lots of lovin’ and squeezin’ tonight and tomorrow…
I’ll leave you all with my two sweet boys…

And my big boy trying to be a bigger boy…

Look at those pants! Such a cutie.

Well, another set of shots down. Poor little guy, didn’t handle it as well this time; I think it was my fault. His appointment was scheduled for almost the exact time that he was due to be hungry again, so he wasn’t interested in eating before it but got hungry and a little crabby during (who wouldn’t?) so when she gave him the shots he kind of lost it for a little while. He was fine by the time we got in the car, I nursed him on the way home and he crashed. Then we got some tylenol down him and he just slept the rest of the afternoon, so he’s back to his perky self today.
Here’s the update…

She goes “well, he’s just off the charts in weight… and just off the charts in height… and in the 75th percentile in head circumference.” So he’s doing really well and truly growing like a weed. The doctor told us we could start him on cereal and then to start baby food at 5 months, but I’m having a hard time starting the cereal. He still seems like such a baby to me, I don’t know that he’s ready for cereal. Or it might just be that I’m not ready for it, I don’t know. We’re not going to start it this week regardless; I need to pick up a few things and I can’t today, John’s working tomorrow and I’m going out of town with him this weekend so I don’t really want to give it to him on Friday and then leave town. Maybe Monday.
And I got to watch Oprah yesterday; I’m never home for it. Jenny McCarthy was on there talking about Evan, her son who has Autism. Truly fascinating and scary stuff. She along with many other mom’s of autistic kids thinks it’s related to the vaccines, which just scares the pants off of me. Here’s the link if anyone’s interested. Holly Robinson Peete was on there, too, and said that 1 in 94 boys has autism. 1 in freaking 94. I don’t know what’s causing it to go up, if it’s the vaccines or something in the food we give our kids or what but it has to be something. I hope they have more insight on it by the time Dash gets to that age, I just can’t imagine how awful it must be to go through something like that. Her story is uplifting; she considers him recovered through several therapies and a diet change. I think I might buy her book, too, along with the “How Starbucks Saved my Life” book that I talked about yesterday.

My dear friend Roz’s latest post…
Tue 18 Sep 2007
1. I haven’t done one of these in a while… (is it cheating to use that as one of my ten?)
2. I want to read this book. I think it may put my work situation into perspective. It’s about an ad exec who lost his job and started working at Starbucks.
3. I just had to chase someone out of the pumping room / server room so I can use it. Better than the bathroom I guess.
4. So some light on my work situation… how do you tell your boss he’s being a complete idiot? He wants to do something that’s just a bad idea. And the other guy who has any say so in it is very much a yes man. Bleh.
5. Dashy has his shots today. He was so perky this morning, too. I hate to ruin his afternoon, poor guy. I hope he handles them as well as he did last time, made it easy on us.
6. I’m starving and pissed off at my diet. I don’t diet hard, I eat a lot and cut out sugar and processed carbs. I just really want a freaking cupcake right now.
7. John’s english teacher is a jerk. He graduated from Yale and is teaching at a community college. Sounds like he’s on some kind of power trip.
8. John and I ran out to Applebee’s sans Dash last night (he stayed with my Mom) and this lady TALKED OUR ARM OFF. I think she was on speed. She started talking as soon as we sat down and didn’t stop until she left about 40 minutes later. About sweet tea, of all things. This seems to happen a lot to us, we’ve decided we’re just going to start making out as soon as we sit down. We’re on a DATE people, leave us alone.
9. I got to wear my “Remember the last time Alabama had a good football team” shirt two times. Guess I’ll put it away for a few years…
10. Since I’m leaving at 11, got here at 8, read email until 9, pumping until 9:45 (I know it takes me forever, pump != baby.), it’s really pointless for me to be here. I guess I can work for an hour and 15 minutes, huh?

His face says it all, doesn’t it? I was as shocked as he was…
Saturday I was getting dressed so I had propped him up on a pillow on the bed on his tummy. He got frustrated so I sat him up on the bed, propped up by a few pillows. He was so cute I started taking his picture when he decided to hurl himself forward and caught himself before he toppled over. He sat there for maybe 60 seconds while I snapped away. So he officially temporarily sat up on his own on his four month birthday.
Today I had a wretched day at work and came home pretty frustrated. I was trying to figure out how I could sell my house and my car so I could quit.
Dash was sleeping when I got home; John had just laid him in his crib. I went in there to do something or another and he woke up and got this look on his face that he usually gets when he wakes up, like “where the heck am I?” So I went over to his crib and he looked up at me and smiled and then he reached out with both arms to touch my face. That’s the first time he’s actually reached for me and I truly forgot about my lousy day.
Amy said in the comments yesterday that motherhood is an amazing thing and she’s so right. I know John will love me until the day I die, but there’s a kind of unconditional love that I know Dash has for me, the same that I have for my mom. I know if I grew a third eye or something he’d still love me and in his eyes, at least for now, I can do no wrong.

Let’s see if I can come up with Five…
1. Dash’s 17 week pictures are up here…

2. Our friend (the guy who performed our wedding ceremony, actually) graduated from UAB this semester and his parents are throwing him a graduation party. They’re Greek, so we’re super-excited about the food.

3. I never had Greek food before I met John. John’s shockingly worldly. He’ll try anything and he’s visited a bunch of places, Greece, Germany (lived there for 2 years while he was in the army, Yay for veteran’s…), Italy… I’ve pretty much been to Mexico and the Bahamas, and a few states in the US. Oh and Canada if you count the Canadian side of Niagara Falls…
4. I’m hating my job at the moment, like dispising it and wishing I could stab it with a rusty knife. I almost walked out the other day and I didn’t care about the repercussions, which would be ghastly.
5. SEVERAL of my friends are pregnant at the moment. I can think of 6. And I’m not one to have very many friends, so that’s like 67% of my friend base. Luckily I am close enough to having had Dash that baby fever has not struck me. Apparently its struck a few of YOU though…
6. (Look at that!) My Dashman will be 4 months old tomorrow. I can hardly believe it. He’s currently almost sitting up by himself, wanting to stand up (he’s got the leg lock down, its the balance. He’ll sit on your lap though and stretch his legs out and dig his heels in trying to push himself up and gets quite frustrated if you don’t help him.), sucking on his thumb (I’m beginning to think resistence is futile) and knawing on his hands like there’s no tomorrow. He goes by the all-time favorite Dashy, Thumby, Mister Fister, and of course the classic, Poopy McPooperson. We’re still breastfeeding (shocking, I know. I never thought I’d make it this long), we haven’t introduced cereal yet (although I think that’s around the corner) and we’re still loving our cloth diapers (and not loving the laundry so much. More than buying diapers though.) So that’s pretty much a summary of my baby’s 4th month. He’s as sweet as can be and gets better each day even though the day before he seemed perfect. Such a dollbaby.

Week 16 Pictures
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend, we did. That extra day does wonders sometimes. John worked Saturday night and Dash enjoyed his first Auburn game, and Sunday we headed out to Logan Martin lake for a wedding. And we finally took a family pic

I also finished Dash’s pullover; it’s size 18 mos so since he’s already wearing 9-12 mos, hopefully it’ll fit him this fall…

It was much easier than I thought it would be, and I’m just glad all the pieces match.
This was my first clothing project so I’m pretty excited. I think I’ll stick with baby clothes for a while, I’m a little afraid to tackle adult sweaters. Maybe after I get a few more under my belt.
Not much else going on around here, John got a 20/20 on his last math quiz so he was excited about that. He’s finally getting to the part that I’m good at, figuring out equations from scenarios, like if Jack left a 15% tip and his total was 10.95, what was the original cost of the meal… stuff like that. Although, he doesn’t seem to need my help much
I’m still making it to curves, I went to the Madison one yesterday. I figure I have 3 chances to go, at 6 in the morning, then if I don’t make that one, during lunch in Madison, and if I don’t make that one then back to the Decatur one after work. So I have to come up with excuses 3 times and it’s hard to do that.
I haven’t lost much weight but I feel like I look better. Not nearly as flabby
Happy Wednesday all, the best thing about a long weekend is it makes for a short week.
