December 2007

Our two year anniversary was yesterday, has it been that long? It seems like yesterday and at the same time like we’ve been married for a long time. Either way, we had a fun day yesterday. I took off work and we headed up to Nashville to tour the ICE thingy (exhibit? show? I don’t really know. Thingy is my go-to word). Anyway, it’s a tour of ice sculptures. This year it was themed The Grinch and it was really neat. Very colorful. It’s 12 degrees in there so they give you parkas, thankfully, or Dash would have frozen. Please excuse the picture overload that is about to ensue…

The outside:

John coming down the ice slide…

Dash loves that Daddy. John can make this little “tsst, tsst, tsst” sound and Dash just cracks up.

The hat and gloves I have on are part of my anniversary present… :)

Then they have the nativity scene carved in ice. It’s huge.

So was anyone else aware that they have a full scale version of the Parthenon in Nashville?

We were meeting our dear friends Brian and Tyne for dinner at J. Alexander’s (oh my God, good. That was the first time I had gone and it was awesome.) and had some time to kill before hand. So we checked out the Parthenon. It apparently has a 42 foot sculpture of Athena in it but we didn’t go see that.

So for John’s present, I got him Guitar Hero III and we had so much fun playing it. John may kick my butt with a real guitar, but I rule at fake guitar. :) I have good hand eye coordination and I don’t like the idea of keeping short nails so I don’t play real guitar. :)

How cool is that? I love pretty kid’s books and I’m excited I get to read a few before I buy them. Plus it’s great to get recommendations. I found this on Apartment Therapy:Nursery and thought you all might enjoy it.

Happy Friday! Yay!

Rachel and I met up for a Sips n Strokes session last night (thank you SO much, Lauren, for blogging about this!) and had a great time. We got to flex our painting muscle and both went home with some cute paintings…

Here I am starting out…

And here’s the finished product!

I think it’s so cool you can go paint artwork for 30 bucks. Next time they have something that I want in my house I’m so in!

One more, here we both are with our paintings…

Dash and I took some Christmas card photos, and while I don’t want to ruin the surprise, here’s some outtakes…

(He will not be wearing that reindeer costume in his photos, don’t get your hopes up. None of them came out well and that outfit really ticks him off so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get him in it again…)

And in catchup, my little chunk on the scale. Check out the cheekage…

So my birth board did this and I thought it was interesting. I know there’s tons out there, alphabet ones, etc, but this one’s simple. Just tell us 20 things about yourself. Want to play? Because I’d LOVE to hear. If you don’t want to post it in your blog, just post it in the comments. Even if you come up with 5. or 10. And if you do post it in your blog, please let me know so I can come learn more about you than I do now…

First, a picture.

1. I like what I do but hate my job. (shocker, I know.)
2. My second toe is shorter than my big toe.
3. I had a cyst removed from my throat when I was 3.
4. I also had stitches in my eyebrow from where I ran into a table.
5. Two weeks after I got those stitches out, i ran into another table and you can still see the scar. My parents didn’t get stitches for that one and you can’t tell the difference between the two cuts.
6. Most of my current friends were also grade school and high school friends.
7. I have gained and lost weight several times in my life, weighing anywhere from 137 to 275.
8. I just now realized 275 is nearly double 137. God.
9. I love myspace and hate facebook.
10. I can do most crafts, although I love crocheting. I’m a decent knitter but I don’t care for it.
11. Wow, 20’s a lot. I love church signs that make me laugh. My favorites are “Sign broken, message inside” and “God - “This blood’s for you”" I mean seriously. Ew.
12. I believe in God but I’m not particularly religious.
13. I also believe all my pets will be waiting for me in Heaven. There’s a lot of cats up there roaming around waiting for me.
14. John and I do not agree on religion and we are both completely ok with that.
15. I almost went to college to become a stockbroker.
16. I also almost changed my major to Interior Design a year before I graduated.
17. I love movies but not scary or gory ones. My definition of gory is a lot broader than John’s.
18. I don’t like Grey’s Anatomy or The Office. Shoot me, I know.
19. I still use my hypnobirthing techniques for various things.
20. I have horrendous under eye circles. Not just “I haven’t slept very well, so I have circles under my eyes” kind. They’re hereditary and they suck. I use this concealer that actually stays on and doesn’t crease and I went to the Bobbi Brown counter for some lipstick and she goes “You know, I can still see your under eye circles” so I let her fool with them and she couldn’t cover them either. I’m a little more self-concious of them now though…

OK, so there’s my 20.

Dash had his 6 month checkup and weighed 20lbs 15oz and was 28 inches long. He’s a big baby, really. Sometimes when he’s napping I can’t believe how big he is. He has recently started to giggle and giggle and it’s the best sound in the world. I think he’s going to crawl this week, too. He can get on all fours sometimes and he starts to squirm when he sees something he wants. I think it’s right around the corner.

Happy Monday all, at least when this one’s under our belt it won’t be Monday anymore…
